Colleen Thomas strives to confound expectation with work fraught with imagery and gutsy physicality. Known for her atmospheric yet physically demanding work, Thomas presents three dances from a period of collaborative work with composer/cellist Chris Lancaster, who will perform live. The program features Colleen and Chris in a new duet, Jane Can’t Connect (aka Open Arms), while dancers Julia Burrer, Ted Johnson and Karl Rodgers will reprise Winning You With Words (This is How We Fall). The evening will close with the premiere of when the earth was flat, it smelled like the color pink, and I believed, in which she creates a world of pretend and struggles with the desire to make what feels unreal- real.
